About the position

As an Animal Care Technician at Certis Oncology Solutions, Inc., you will play a crucial role in maintaining the health and welfare of immune-compromised mice in a sterile environment. Your responsibilities will include performing routine animal husbandry tasks, such as cage changing and providing clean bedding and materials for the mice housed in the vivarium. You will be expected to observe the health, behavior, and appearance of the animals, reporting any findings and providing support for basic veterinary medical treatments as prescribed by the veterinary staff. In addition to animal care, you will be responsible for sanitation duties within the vivarium, which includes cleaning animal rooms and procedure rooms, as well as performing routine vivarium and instrument decontamination. You will document and record environmental monitoring conditions, ensuring compliance with safety and health regulations. Autoclaving biowaste for disposal and routine decontamination of rooms using a fogger will also be part of your daily tasks. You will monitor and record freezer and refrigeration temperatures, operate and maintain lab equipment, and manage data entry tasks. Maintaining accurate and detailed study records is essential, as is assisting in the management of vivarium supply inventories, including stocking and ordering supplies. This position requires flexibility, as routine weekend and holiday work is expected. You may also be assigned additional duties as needed, contributing to the overall success of the research team.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a sterile environment with immune-compromised mice using aseptic techniques.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of experience working in a laboratory animal facility.
  • General understanding of animal welfare regulations and ethical use of animals in research.
  • Ability to maintain detailed records of experimental methods.
  • Detail-oriented and able to multi-task.
  • Flexibility to work within changing shifts, including weekends, holidays, and evenings.
  • Ability to use a computer and familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Skills in dosing animals, tissue collection, and tumor measurements.
