About The Position

The Animal Services Associate at Lexington Humane Society plays a crucial role in providing community services related to animal welfare. Requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of current laws and ordinances related to animal welfare.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Familiarity with animal breeds and basic behavior.

Responsibilities

  • Animal intake, processing, returns, and licensing.
  • Interface with the public to inform, educate, and resolve animal-related issues.
  • Impound, vaccinate, and house animals per protocol.
  • Prioritize the compassionate and humane treatment of animals.
  • Follow all safe animal handling and transport protocols.
  • Complete all activities consistent with SOP.
  • Assess animal sex, age, and breed type.
  • Identify animals' demeanor, health, age, gender, and breed.
  • Scan animals for microchip identification and research possible owner information.
  • Take pictures of stray animals and maintain the Lost and Found online function.
  • Search various sources for Lost and Found information to reunite pets and owners.
  • Notify owners of impounded animals and assess applicable fees according to SOP.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of lost and found communication.
  • Ensure a clean and well-maintained Animal Services area.
  • Handle money and maintain a cash drawer with receipts.
  • Maintain confidentiality of customer and animal information.
  • Use Personal Protective Equipment where appropriate and maintain the equipment.
  • Ensure all LFACC and LHS issued licenses are entered into the system properly and in a timely fashion.
