About the position

The Anti-Human Trafficking Advocate will provide comprehensive advocacy services to domestic and foreign-born victims of sex and labor trafficking. This role involves conducting outreach, screening potential victims, providing crisis intervention, and developing service plans to assist victims in achieving safety and self-sufficiency. The advocate will collaborate with local and statewide organizations to enhance response efforts and ensure the safety of victims.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct extensive outreach activities to increase the identification of victims of human trafficking.
  • Screen potential and/or at-risk individuals to identify human trafficking situations.
  • Provide direct advocacy services for domestic and foreign nationals who are victims of sex and labor trafficking.
  • Provide crisis intervention, conduct safety planning, and assist victims to secure resources to increase safety.
  • Develop and maintain a case management process, ensuring all program requirements are documented and maintained.
  • Provide assistance to victims, including arranging referrals for social, economic, vocational, psychological, legal, and medical resources.
  • Accompany and/or transport victims to court, shelter, and/or other community services as needed.
  • Link and/or enroll victims to other anti-human trafficking victim services and programs that provide financial assistance, shelter, and services.
  • Develop and implement collaborative response efforts to human trafficking among local and regional organizations and law enforcement.
  • Conduct follow-up contacts with assigned victims, collaborating community organizations, law enforcement, and the State/District Attorney's Office.
  • Participate in civil and criminal trial aspects of the crime victim, providing education, support, and intervention during trial exposure times.
  • Collaborate with state and federal law enforcement and other human trafficking services to ensure client safety and protection of rights.
  • Provide training and technical assistance to representatives from local organizations on the basics of human trafficking.

Requirements

  • Bilingual in Spanish/English; verbal and written form.
  • Minimum of a High School Diploma (or equivalent) supplemented by two years of post-secondary education in a relevant field.
  • One year experience serving vulnerable and/or at-risk underserved populations.
  • Demonstrated experience providing client care and leveraging resources to assist clients in achieving safety and self-sufficiency.
  • Experience collaborating with law enforcement, district attorney's office, and other judicial systems.
  • Knowledge of the legal rights of victims and the civil and criminal legal systems.
  • Strong communication and writing skills, leadership, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate case management techniques and effectively utilize a complex service delivery system.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability to work independently and as a team member.
