In this role, you'll work in one of our IBM Consulting Client Innovation Centers (Delivery Centers), where we deliver deep technical and industry expertise to a wide range of public and private sector clients around the world. Our delivery centers offer our clients locally based skills and technical expertise to drive innovation and adoption of new technology.

Responsibilities

• Participate in many aspects of the software development lifecycle, such as design, code implementation, testing, and support.
• Create software that enables clients' hybrid-cloud and AI journeys.
• Monitor and analyze database performance (CPU, memory, disk space, etc.).
• Verify backup integrity and recovery procedures regularly.
• Work with developers and architects to ensure optimal database design for application requirements.
• Optimize database schema for performance, scalability, and maintainability.
• Implement performance tuning strategies (e.g., indexing, query optimization, and partitioning).
• Identify and resolve database bottlenecks.
• Manage and maintain IBM's DB2 database systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science.
• 6.9 years of work experience, including 2 years 9 months for UKSC.
• Knowledge on IBM DB2 LUW (DB2 for Linux, Unix, and Windows).
• Migration of DB2 UDB databases from old to newer versions.
• Apply FIXPACKS to keep DB2 at most recent level.
• SQL Tuning and benchmarking using db2batch, db2advis & db2explain tools.
• Experience in creating Instances, Databases, Tablespaces and Buffer pools.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's Degree.
• Expertise in using Movement Utilities like Export, Import, Load.DB2MOVE under high volume conditions.
• Expertise on HADR Server Rebuild and Monitoring and HADR failovers and Rolling Upgrades.
