About the position

As an Application Engineer at 3M, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. You will work with global Application Engineering, Product Development, Sales and Marketing personnel to develop and replicate high impact applications for the consumer electronics market, specifically in the adhesives and conductive markets. Your role will involve identifying the best 3M solution for an application by thoroughly understanding customer needs, testing, and analyzing results, and communicating these results to customers and the global application engineering team through written reports and presentations. You will also provide launch support for new product programs, build a deep understanding of customer needs and competition, and specify 3M products at key OEMs and Tiers on engineering drawings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's/master's degree in engineering from any reputed institution/University with Polymer science/Chemical/Materials science/Electronics as the major subject.
  • Minimum of 4 years of work experience in customer facing roles preferably in electronics segment.
  • Experience with tapes & adhesives, conductive materials etc would be an advantage.
  • Comfortable in handling testing equipment, and analytical instruments.
  • Good understanding about IP protocols and procedures.
  • Exploratory mindset and aptitude to identify new applications, new opportunities and customer pain areas and value selling.
  • Should be a team player, able to plan & work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Should be able to network effectively and efficiently with internal and external customers, and should have good key account management skills.
  • Strong analytical, presentation & communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge in converting processes like die-cutting and slitting is desired.
  • Experience with creating digital contents by using editing software & recording devices to mimic customer applications for demonstration of product solutions.
