About the position

The Application Engineer - Switchboards position at Siemens Industry, Inc. involves providing design and specification development support to sales, business development managers (BDMs), consultants, and distributors. The role includes offering technical support and guidance to ensure that all customer requirements are met in a timely manner, as well as supporting other Siemens business units, suppliers, and internal/external customers. Responsibilities include reviewing customer drawings, conducting final reviews prior to the completion of engineering on complex jobs, and providing engineering support for performance, cost reduction, and quality initiatives. The engineer will also perform technical and product training for sales, BDMs, consultants, and distributors, review switchboards at order entry to ensure compliance with codes and customer design requirements, resolve customer issues with switchboards, and maintain professional business relationships within target accounts. The position requires identifying customer needs and sales opportunities to assist with future emerging technologies. Remote work is permitted, and the role requires 15% travel within the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Resolve customer issues with switchboards and offer design solutions at order entry.
  • Maintain professional business relationships within target accounts.
  • Identify customer needs and sales opportunities for future technologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, or a related field.
  • Two (2) years of experience in the job offered or as a Switchboard Sales, Switchboard Bid Coordinator, Switchboard Project Manager, or an acceptable alternate occupation.
  • Alternatively, five (5) years of experience with the Siemens Switchboard product and five (5) years configuring switchboard products in COMPAS with demonstrated proficiency.
  • Two years' experience with switchboards.
  • Strong technical knowledge in electrical and mechanical design.
  • Ability to interpret and understand technical product specifications.
  • Ability to read architectural, mechanical, and electrical blueprints.
  • Solid understanding of basic electrical and mechanical control systems.
