About the position
An Application Quoting Engineer prepares detailed cost estimates of hours and materials for pricing automated machines to be built by ATC. Application Quoting Engineers write proposals for the customer describing the proposed parts or equipment. Must be able to review and comprehend written customer supplied drawings, tolerances, production requirements, and machine specifications. Application Quoting Engineers use SolidWorks to prepare concept drawings of the proposed machine with detail of tooling and part nesting. May be required to plan customer presentation using PowerPoint and 3D renderings to prepare visual presentation under the direction of the team leader and Sales. May be required to assist other design and build teams on special projects providing machine design assistance. Good time management skills and ability to be multi-tasking. Must be able to travel to customer sites in NA for project line ups and sales support.
Responsibilities
- Brainstorm assembly solutions with customer and sales team
- Present and prepare high quality quotes for sales and customers
- Conceive cost-effective assembly machines and test equipment
- Work and interact with team-based management
- Utilize computer skills and understanding of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SolidWorks
- Interface with customer through written and verbal communications
- Understand Mathematics and tolerancing on prints
- Apply basic engineering principles and practices regarding machine building
- Utilize knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical mechanisms
- Understand basic electrical and pneumatic controls platforms
- Understand general machining practices (lathe, Mill Boring, Welding, etc.)
- Travel to customer sites as required
- Present to large groups of people
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree
- 5-10 years experience with automation and custom machine building
- Ability to write in a clear and concise manner
- Ability to speak effectively and present information clearly
- Good time management skills
- Ability to keep to a defined project timeline for customer due dates and sales requirements
