About the position

Empire State University, Office of Information Technology Services, is seeking a full-time Application Support/Integrations Programmer (State Title: Lead Programmer/Analyst) to support the university's enterprise administrative systems. This role is crucial in ensuring the reliability, availability, and maintainability of complex on-premises and cloud-based applications. The successful candidate will engage in ongoing communication and interaction with professional and support staff distributed across New York State, fostering a collaborative environment. In this position, the programmer will employ their technical and functional skills to automate processes, create third-party system integrations, and support Oracle SQL programs, PL/SQL scripts, and some Linux server issues. They will act as a liaison between users of various systems and technical units, determining user needs, performing feasibility studies, planning projects, and devising solutions to systems problems. The role also involves analyzing existing system logic difficulties, revising logic and procedures, diagnosing problems with hardware and software products, and assisting users in identifying complex technical issues arising from systems software. Responsibilities

  • Employ technical and functional skills to ensure reliability, availability, and maintainability of complex applications.
  • Automate processes and create third-party systems integrations.
  • Support Oracle SQL programs, PL/SQL scripts, and Linux server issues.
  • Act as a liaison between users and technical units to determine user needs and devise solutions.
  • Analyze existing system logic difficulties and revise logic and procedures.
  • Diagnose problems with hardware and software products and implement remedies.
  • Assist users in identifying complex technical problems arising from systems software.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and three years of experience OR an Associate's degree and five years of experience.
  • Experience building and utilizing API integrations and RESTful web services.
  • Experience working on Hosted Servers and their integrations.
  • Experience with Relational Databases, Content Management Systems, single sign-on, and version control.
  • Ability to create reports and batch processes using the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Experience working in IT within a higher education environment using CRM's, ERP's, and/or LMS's.
  • Proven experience in writing queries and programs in Oracle SQL/SQL environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of cron jobs, C-Panel, and/or CLI.
  • Knowledge of applying security certifications and URL registrations.
  • Experience programming in Banner, PageBuilder, and Banner Workflow.
  • Knowledge of Ellucian Ethos integration and Ellucian Experience.
  • Understanding of JavaScript, PHP, ReactJS, and Git.
  • Ability to create reports using a reporting tool like Argos or COGNOS.
