About the position

In this role, you will engage with customers through the requirements definition process, generating concepts, developing cost estimates, and presenting proposals. You will be responsible for creating a defined proposal that clarifies all customer requirements and interacting with sales and management teams to ensure technical alignment. Presenting concepts to customers while emphasizing competitive advantages is a key part of the job. You will assist the internal proposal design team and processes, document technical requirements, manage project risks, and oversee project plans and change procedures. Participation in technical advisory roles may be required, and you will interact with customers at all levels. Ensuring an effective handoff to operations for ongoing maintenance and troubleshooting is essential. You will follow a standardized quoting process and create standardized presentations, including capture plans, executive reviews, and customer reviews. The role involves using various standardized tools such as proposal templates, cost worksheets, CAD tools for concept approaches, compliance matrices, and FAT/SAT criteria. There are opportunities to enhance proposals through collaboration with technical writers and dedicated simulation/CAD resources, leveraging cross-business expertise via knowledge-sharing platforms like SharePoint and MS Teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of industry experience (preferably in the automation industry).
  • Experience in quoting, sales, and customer interaction is preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical design drawings and customer part prints.
  • Understanding of electrical and pneumatic controls architecture.
  • Experience working with project teams and customers to design and estimate complete systems.
  • Ability to recognize and determine cost factors such as timelines, materials, labor, tooling, etc.
  • Reliable transportation and ability to travel within the US and Canada.
