About the position

The Operations Specialist 2 is responsible for assisting in the agronomy, grain, and feed departments at the designated location. Key duties include fertilizer blending and loading, prepping and loading sprayer support equipment, transporting NH3 tanks, and the pick-up and delivery of fertilizer equipment. The role also involves loading fertilizer with proper training, as well as the pick-up and delivery of tanks and loading feed. Additionally, the position includes grain handling duties such as performing cleaning and maintenance in the elevator, buildings, and on the grounds, and dumping and loading grain trucks. The Operations Specialist 2 is expected to perform duties in a manner that optimizes the company’s efficiency, helps achieve the company’s mission and goals, and results in outstanding customer service. This employee will support the safety culture and maintain a positive attitude that promotes teamwork within the entire company and a favorable image of the company.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in fertilizer blending and loading.
  • Prep and load sprayer support equipment.
  • Transport NH3 tanks.
  • Pick-up and deliver fertilizer equipment.
  • Load fertilizer with proper training.
  • Pick-up and deliver tanks and load feed.
  • Assist with seed cleaning duties.
  • Handle incoming grain by unloading trucks.
  • Weigh and test the grain if necessary.
  • Transfer grain to the correct bin efficiently.
  • Load out grain to trucks or rail cars following legal weight limits.
  • Blend grains as necessary for shipping.
  • Maintain the quality of stored grain through inspections.
  • Unload feed from supply trucks and load into the warehouse.
  • Load liquid, dry, and NH3 fertilizer into customer vehicles.
  • Drive a commercial vehicle when requested.
  • Assist with the operation of the seed cleaner.
  • Assist with monthly inventory duties.
  • Observe safety regulations and promote a safety culture.
  • Maintain equipment and facilities to specifications.
  • Assist other locations and/or departments as requested.
  • Maintain all vehicles in proper operating order.
  • Maintain a positive visual image of all locations.

Requirements

  • Ability to gain operational knowledge of all machinery in the elevator.
  • Ability to operate the elevator safely and make minor repairs.
  • Ability to conduct scheduled maintenance on all equipment.
  • Good working knowledge of fertilizer, seed, and grains.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Class A CDL with Hazmat and Tanker Endorsements.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain 7B Fumigation License.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to react to change productively.
