Barack H. Obama Elementary School is seeking a highly energetic, GA-licensed School Nurse (RN-LPN) to provide essential health and medical services to students. The ideal candidate will possess a thorough understanding of federal, state, and local laws and regulations that govern the delivery of school health services. This role requires knowledge of normal and abnormal child development, as well as educational principles and approaches relevant to children with various intellectual and learning disabilities, including special needs preschool children. The candidate must demonstrate a kind and caring demeanor, effective communication skills with both children and adults, and the ability to be flexible and organized in a school environment. Dependability, conscientiousness, and teamwork are essential qualities for this position. Under direct supervision, the School Nurse will perform a variety of health procedures and assist students with medication administration. Responsibilities include conducting respiratory assessments, providing tracheostomy care when necessary, and maintaining up-to-date health records for students. The nurse will regularly observe students to identify health needs and will work one-on-one with assigned students, traveling with them on the bus and attending all classes and activities as required. Emergency care responsibilities for assigned students will also be part of the role, along with advising on modifications to the educational program to accommodate individual health needs. The School Nurse will prepare and submit reports to the lead nurse and principal, and may be assigned additional duties as needed.
