The Area Director of Finance is a highly visible role with exposure to Senior and Corporate leadership, overseeing both Hyatt Grand Central and Park South Hotel. This position reports to the hotel General Manager and is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and controlling the accounting and control function of the division, reporting operational results, and providing financial support to hotel management. The role of the hotel director of finance as the hotel's "Chief Financial Officer" can be categorized into four main areas of discipline: Financial Management, Operational Leadership, Internal Controls and Risk, and Business Partner. In Financial Management, the director oversees generating accurate and reliable financial reports, data, and analysis, month-end financial close, forecasting/budgeting, internal/external audits, and owner/corporate reporting. Operational Leadership involves cultivating finance talents and non-finance functional team leaders in financial literacy, prioritizing inclusion, diversity, and equity, and improving operational efficiency. In terms of Internal Controls and Risk, the director is responsible for risk assessment and mitigation, maintaining internal controls and segregation of duties, and keeping up with local legislation changes. As a Business Partner, the director provides actionable analytical insights to maximize business results and supports strategic decision-making by implementing processes and partnering with the operational team to optimize targeted results and track performance. Duties include managing short and long-term planning and the management of the Accounting function, participating in total hotel management as a member of the Hotel Leadership Committee, and leading hotel on-site accounting functions to ensure proper fiscal management. The director also assists in nurturing relationships with owners, supervises and coordinates owner reporting, and provides custom reports as needed. Additionally, the director is responsible for managing SOX compliance, completing the year-end audit process, preparing and reviewing financial statements, and supervising the Information Technology function.
