About the position

The Area Director of Sales & Marketing is responsible for maximizing all revenues coming in to the assigned hotels while maintaining excellent customer service for both internal and external customers. This role involves hiring, training, and managing sales and yield management teams, analyzing and reporting sales metrics, overseeing events from a brand perspective, and managing advertising, outreach, and public relations efforts across all market segments. The position requires a commitment to achieving and maximizing hotel revenues while delivering the best service, quality, and value to every customer.

Responsibilities

  • Hiring, training, and management of sales and yield management teams.
  • Analysis and reporting of sales metrics.
  • Oversight of all events from a brand perspective.
  • Management of advertising, electronic outreach, and public relations efforts.
  • Oversight of all print and electronic communication tools.
  • Achieving and maximizing all assigned hotels’ revenues.
  • Maintaining effective involvement with key community and networking organizations.
  • Analyzing demand segments and sources of business for each market.
  • Managing pricing and rooms inventories to maximize revenues.
  • Meeting or exceeding sales goals for group bookings and corporate accounts.
  • Finalizing contracts for group bookings.
  • Planning function details with hotel department heads.
  • Executing cut-off dates on group bookings.
  • Planning and conducting pre-cons and post-cons.
  • Preparing and mailing brochures and menus to prospective clients.
  • Assisting in planning and participating in sales blitz for each property.
  • Pursuing opportunities for outside customer solicitation and relationship building.

Requirements

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Database Management, and Web Browsing.
  • Positive, results-oriented attitude and ability to work under pressure.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated sales ability and proven success with prospecting new business.
  • Availability to work some nights and/or weekends.
  • Ability to identify and develop accounts with individual guest room needs.
  • Strong sales skills with knowledge of sales techniques and proven closing ability.
  • Ability to anticipate and analyze client needs and negotiate pricing.
  • Knowledge of contractual agreements and associated legal implications.
  • Aggressive, self-motivated work habits.
  • Knowledge of hotel operations, services, and facilities.
  • Knowledge of Food and Beverage and Banquets and Catering.
  • Must pass a background check.
