About the position

The Art Teacher will be responsible for teaching art education at the TWHS Ninth Grade Campus. This position involves developing and implementing lesson plans that fulfill the district's curriculum requirements and accommodating different student learning styles. The teacher will present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency and will work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed. The role also includes conducting assessments of student learning, managing classroom behavior, and maintaining communication with parents and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of district's curriculum program.
  • Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
  • Present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
  • Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment.
  • Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
  • Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students.
  • Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s).
  • Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
  • Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
  • Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned.
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct.
  • Take necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Assist in selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
  • Establish and maintain open communication with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
  • Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all required reports and records.
  • Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
  • Integrate District-approved online learning platforms into virtual instruction.
  • Plan, prepare, implement, and evaluate lessons during standard work hours.
  • Communicate with students, parents, and staff during standard work hours.
  • Dress professionally and create a virtual classroom environment conducive to learning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Education (Art)
  • Certification requirements; Art-All Level
  • Demonstrate proficiency in all areas of art education including drawing, painting, ceramics, fibers, printmaking, sculpture, and crafts.
  • Present a portfolio of work and student artwork.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in teaching all areas of art education.
  • Ability to use slides instead of actual work for portfolio presentation.
