The Extravehicular Activity (EVA) Development (EVA Dev) group provides hardware management and systems engineering expertise to our NASA customer. EVA Dev manages the development of hardware to be used on EVA on the International Space Station (ISS), the lunar surface and Mars. We are looking for an Artemis Integration Systems Engineer (Project Engineer- Systems Engineering). This role will provide Systems Engineering and Integration (SE&I) capabilities to NASA/Johnson Space Center in support of the EVA Development Project Office of the EVA and Human Surface Mobility Program (EHP). In this role, you will be responsible for SE&I Requirements, Interface, and Verification (RIV) support to the Artemis team.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and utilize SE&I processes and products for the development of EVA hardware.
  • Manage the Artemis EVA insight team by meeting with the performing organization regularly to drive compliance to requirements.
  • Work with the performing organization to identify areas where additional support is needed and facilitate collaboration efforts.
  • Support the Human Landing System (HLS) and Gateway programs.
  • Serve as the EVA Development Project representative to the HLS and Gateway IPTs.
  • Coordinate/own Artemis-related risks using the EVA Dev risk tool.
  • Provide Artemis schedule integration by working with the performing organizations and the EVA Dev scheduling team.
  • Provide direction to the Artemis EVA Insight (AEI) Team during Insight Team meetings.
  • Provide Exploration EVA Services (xEVAS) certification management for Artemis Demo and Services.
  • Provide guidance with contractual/programmatic discussions related to testing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, science, or related discipline.
  • 8 or more years of increasingly responsible professional engineering/scientific experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the NASA program life cycle.
  • Knowledge and understanding of systems engineering, including requirements, interfaces, verifications, and integrated performance for spaceflight hardware.
  • Ability to effectively utilize oral and written communication to express technical concepts and recommendations.
  • Ability to work in various SE&I functions in a quick-paced, small core team.
