About The Position

The Assembler II position involves setting up equipment and processing a variety of assemblies, including standard and special connectors, following both written and verbal instructions. The role requires a combination of mechanical knowledge and assembly skills, with a focus on quality and safety in a manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years' experience in related mechanical manufacturing assembly operations.
  • Ability to read, follow, and understand verbal instructions, product/process specifications, drawings, and work orders in English.
  • Ability to use calculators for measurements and calculations.
  • Ability to lift 30 lbs. and handle components and assemblies using bending, reaching, and twisting body movements; in addition to the use of hand tools.
  • Good manual dexterity to assemble small and intricate parts.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with EMI ring assembly and bonding processes.
  • Familiarity with safety protocols in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Set up equipment to meet product standards for identification, shell painting, retainer loading, contact painting, wire cutting, riveting, contact crimping, and contact hooding.
  • Weigh, mix, and identify items such as inks, paints, adhesives, molding compounds, and potting materials.
  • Interface with customers as necessary.
  • Follow intermediate drawings and procedures for assembly.
  • Perform connector assemblies with limited to no supervision.
  • Train and assist Assembler 1s in their tasks.
  • Manually load and/or machine load retainers into molded plastic inserts per work order instructions.
  • Bond loaded front inserts to molded plastic rear inserts per work order instructions.
  • Bond interface seals and grommet seals to plastic insert assemblies per work order instructions.
  • Assemble and bond EMI rings to connector shell per work order instructions.
  • Apply identification stamping to various components and assemblies.
  • Paint components and apply paint stripe markings to contacts.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment, performing housekeeping duties as needed.
  • Stage materials for shipment as required.
  • Prepare single and shielded wires for termination, crimp contacts to prepared wires, and terminate simple cables to connectors.
