About the position

The Asset Protection Manager (APM) is responsible for leading asset protection activities within the assigned store unit, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures to drive sales and profits. This role involves team development, conducting investigations related to theft and fraud, and implementing strategies to reduce shrinkage and enhance safety in the store environment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct developmental conversations with direct reports and maintain notes/observations of strengths and opportunities.
  • Interview, hire, and train Asset Protection talent for the store, ensuring adherence to Asset Protection Directives, policies, and procedures.
  • Actively walk the floor and coach associates to enhance their development, advising Store/District Leadership Teams on opportunities for improvement.
  • Proactively identify potential acts of theft and fraud by observing associate and customer activity, reviewing exception reports, and investigation referrals.
  • Interview associates suspected of theft or fraud in accordance with company policies and document all stages properly.
  • Review and ensure all Asset Protection documentation is complete, accurate, and maintained per company policy and procedure.
  • Communicate external theft trends to associates and partner with other locations/retailers to identify Organized Retail Crime (ORC) groups and patterns.
  • Attend hearings as required and update appropriate files with court-related outcomes.
  • Create and maintain relationships with local law enforcement and mall security partners.
  • Review reports of external apprehensions, internal investigations, incident reports, PCI, PII, and Sales Audit documentation.
  • Tailor company Asset Protection direction to the store and create new ways to educate and motivate store teams to focus on shrinkage reduction and safety.
  • Coach store associates on maintaining a hazard-free work area and sales floor to protect customers and associates from accidents.
  • Periodically audit departments for merchandise protection standard adherence and identify opportunities that deviate from company standards.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in asset protection or loss prevention management.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to develop and motivate a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to conduct investigations and interviews in accordance with company policies.
  • Knowledge of retail operations and shrinkage reduction strategies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in retail management or operations.
  • Familiarity with local law enforcement and security protocols.
  • Certification in loss prevention or asset protection.
