About the position

As an Asset Protection & Safety Manager at Lowe's, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of both customers and associates within the store environment. Your primary responsibility will be to assist the Store Operational Leadership team in delivering exceptional customer service while maintaining a clean, safe, and well-stocked store. This involves monitoring various operational aspects such as receiving, shipping, and selling patterns to identify potential risks and areas for improvement. You will champion safety initiatives and establish processes that enhance safety, reduce shrinkage, and improve security outcomes. In this role, you will oversee and coordinate programs aimed at minimizing loss while ensuring a safe working and shopping environment. This includes monitoring for criminal activities, coaching and training associates on safety protocols, and managing inventory levels to mitigate shrink and shortages. You may also be required to respond to violent altercations to protect customers and staff. As an expert in safety reports, guidelines, and regulations, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance and promoting a culture of safety within the store. The position requires flexibility in scheduling, as you will need to be available for morning, afternoon, and evening shifts any day of the week. Physical demands include the ability to perform tasks that may require prolonged standing, sitting, and lifting up to 25 pounds without assistance. You will also need to be prepared for occasional travel to attend meetings, training sessions, or to support neighboring stores.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Store Operational Leadership team in delivering quality customer service.
  • Monitor receiving, shipping, and selling patterns for the assigned store.
  • Champion safety initiatives and establish processes to improve safety, shrink, and security outcomes.
  • Oversee and coordinate programs to minimize loss while maintaining a safe environment.
  • Monitor and solve for criminal activities within the store.
  • Coach and train associates on safety protocols and procedures.
  • Oversee inventory levels to help mitigate shrink and shortages.
  • Respond to violent altercations to ensure the safety of customers and staff.
  • Act as an expert on safety reports, guidelines, and regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher OR High School Diploma or equivalent and 3 years of relevant work experience (e.g., retail or Asset Protection).
  • Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, Safety, Business, or related Asset Protection field.
  • National certified training program (e.g., Wicklander-Zuwalski or Reed training).
  • Professional accreditation (e.g., APQ, APC) or equivalent experience.
  • 2 years of experience directly or indirectly supervising employees including coaching, mentoring, directing, training, performance management, and recognition.
  • 2 years of experience as a Manager in a retail environment.
  • 1 year of experience conducting quality reviews/audits.
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing business documents (e.g., P&L, exception reports).
  • Demonstrated experience conducting retail investigations.

Nice-to-haves
