About the position

The Department of Psychology, Sociology and Anthropology at Concordia University, Irvine, CA, invites applications for a full-time faculty member as Professor of Sociology (at appropriate rank) beginning July 2025. The individual should demonstrate excellence in teaching and scholarship in the discipline of sociology or related fields. The faculty member will teach courses that serve the department and possibly Concordia's Enduring Questions and Ideas Curriculum (EQ&I), as well as filling roles in advising, mentoring, assessment, program recruitment, and university service. Concordia seeks an individual who values the Lutheran liberal arts tradition and who will promote the mission, purpose, and objectives of the university. Rank and salary will be determined by credentials and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses in sociology and related fields

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree (PhD preferred) in sociology or related fields
  • Experience in teaching and research
  • MA/MS in sociology acceptable with proper professional experience
  • Membership in the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod preferred
  • Members of any Christian congregation that confesses the historic creeds of the Christian Church are encouraged to apply
