About the position

The Assistant Controller at Amy's Kitchen plays a crucial role in providing strategic support and leadership within the finance team, ensuring the financial health and operational efficiency of the company. This position involves managing financial reporting, corporate accounting processes, and compliance, while also assisting the Chief Financial Officer and Corporate Controller in establishing accounting policies and internal controls. The Assistant Controller will oversee daily accounting operations and contribute to strategic financial planning and analysis, reporting directly to the Corporate Controller.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic support and leadership within the finance team.
  • Manage financial reporting and corporate accounting processes.
  • Ensure compliance with internal and external financial regulations.
  • Assist in establishing accounting policies and internal controls.
  • Oversee daily accounting operations and ensure effective financial close and consolidation processes.
  • Lead the monthly close and consolidation activities.
  • Prepare internal and external reports and audited financial statements.
  • Evaluate changes in accounting principles and apply appropriate accounting principles to transactions.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends and areas of opportunity.
  • Ensure timely reconciliation of all accounts and maintain the general ledger accuracy.
  • Lead and support technical accounting activities, including impairment testing and valuation of intangibles.
  • Coordinate and manage all audit activities and issues.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA designation is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory roles.
  • Experience in the CPG or food industry is strongly preferred.
  • Technical accounting expertise, including advanced accounting principles.
  • Experience with complex transactions such as acquisitions and debt financing.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience implementing and supporting change management for accounting systems.
  • Experience supporting cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
