About the position

The Assistant Director for Administrative Services is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive administrative services program within the department. This role ensures the effective achievement of departmental policies and goals while adhering to state and federal regulations. The Assistant Director serves as a liaison with various governmental and local entities, oversees special project development, and manages administrative support programs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive administrative services program.
  • Ensure effective achievement of departmental policies, goals, and objectives.
  • Serve as a liaison with state and federal departments, local municipalities, and groups.
  • Oversee special project development and related work.
  • Assist in planning, coordinating, implementing, and controlling administrative support programs.
  • Maintain coordination with various divisions of the department and other state agencies.
  • Provide professional information to state officials and the public media.
  • Attend meetings and conferences representing the department.
  • Direct analyses of programs, services, resources, and costs to improve efficiency.
  • Develop short and long-term goals and management plans for the department.

Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of public administration principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of operations in the program or service area.
  • Working knowledge of regulatory statutes and civil rights programs.
  • Extensive skills in writing and public speaking.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with various stakeholders.
  • Experience in a highly responsible administrative position.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in public administration or a related field.
