The Assistant Director of Advancement Communications at the University of Oregon plays a crucial role in planning and implementing strategic communications aimed at promoting donations and strengthening relationships with donors and key stakeholders. This position involves creating marketing plans, overseeing the production of donor-facing content, and collaborating closely with development clients to enhance fundraising efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement strategic communications to promote giving to the University of Oregon.
  • Create communications and marketing plans for donor engagement.
  • Write, edit, and oversee the production of publications and reports for donors.
  • Ensure compliance with brand standards set by University Communications.
  • Provide strategic planning, writing, editing, and project management support to Development clients.
  • Report on outcomes and incorporate analytics into communications strategies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in public relations, communications, marketing, or a related field.
  • Three years of experience in marketing communications planning and execution, including writing and editing for print and digital publications.
  • Demonstrated ability to define marketing and communications strategies and develop strategic communications plans.
  • Customer relations mindset with the ability to translate client needs into communications solutions.
  • Fluency with a donor-centered approach to writing and producing fundraising appeals.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of creative copywriting and copy editing.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills to manage multiple priorities.
  • Commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Nice-to-haves

  • Five years of experience managing marketing or communications, specifically with fundraising campaigns.
  • Two years of experience in an editorial and production lead role overseeing the creation of publications.
  • Mastery of best practices for fundraising or constituent engagement marketing and communications.
  • Feature writing experience related to fundraising techniques.
