About the position

The Assistant Director of Clinical Services at Western Carolina University is responsible for overseeing the clinical services provided by the Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS). This role includes managing scheduling, crisis coverage, and clinical supervision, while also providing counseling services to students. The position aims to enhance the mental health support available to the university community and involves collaboration with various campus departments.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the clinical services provided by CAPS.
  • Administer and manage Titanium Schedule.
  • Organize and maintain scheduling of triage services and coverage.
  • Coordinate after-hours crisis coverage and follow-up procedures.
  • Oversee case assignment, case review, and chart review procedures.
  • Provide oversight to the Clinical Services Team.
  • Coordinate the client experiences survey each semester.
  • Participate on the Administration Team to integrate clinical services into CAPS.
  • Maintain involvement in professional organizations and research initiatives.
  • Provide counseling services including individual and group therapy, outreach programming, and crisis services.
  • Provide clinical supervision to doctoral and master's level interns.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with campus colleagues to meet assessed needs.

Requirements

  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
  • Completed master's or doctoral degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology, Counseling, or Social Work.
  • Three years of post-graduate clinical counseling experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing crisis intervention services.
  • Experience working in a college counseling center serving diverse students, faculty, and staff.
  • Eligibility to be licensed to provide mental health care in North Carolina by hire date.

Nice-to-haves

  • At least four years of post-graduate clinical counseling experience.
  • A minimum of two years as a staff member in a university counseling center setting.
  • Experience with Titanium Schedule.
  • Experience with assessment, program development, and quality assurance.
