An Assistant Director of Finance at Hamilton Hotel will be responsible for a variety of financial tasks that are crucial for the smooth operation of the hotel. This role involves daily, weekly, and monthly bookkeeping for various properties, ensuring that all financial records are accurate and up-to-date. The Assistant Director will assist in managing staff at different levels across these properties, which requires strong leadership and communication skills. Key responsibilities include performing bank reconciliations, credit card statement reconciliations, and month-end close duties. The Assistant Director will also prepare and remit sales and occupancy taxes, as well as prepare and review monthly financial statements to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures. In this position, the Assistant Director of Finance will work closely with the Director of Finance to align on short and long-term financial goals, while managing expenses within approved budget parameters. The role demands a thorough understanding of the company's operational policies and the ability to resolve conflicts effectively. Given the dynamic nature of the hospitality industry, the Assistant Director may be required to perform a variety of functions beyond their primary responsibilities, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to assist colleagues as needed. The ideal candidate will maintain a professional demeanor at all times, establish and maintain good communication and teamwork with colleagues and other departments, and ensure that all financial deadlines are met. This includes overseeing the daily, weekly, and monthly bookkeeping processes, managing accounts payable and receivable, and preparing financial statements for review. The Assistant Director will also be involved in audits and will help establish or correct policies related to accounting functions and cash control, ensuring adherence to safety and emergency procedures, including OSHA requirements.
