About the position

The Assistant Director of Student Finance at National Louis University is responsible for providing leadership and direction for the Student Finance Department. This role involves ensuring compliance with financial aid policies and overseeing the accurate awarding and disbursement of student financial aid. The position requires a strong focus on customer service and a comprehensive understanding of the student finance process, while actively participating in student advising and default management.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the administration of all Title IV programs.
  • Ensure compliance with Federal and State accreditation and institutional guidelines for student enrollment and financial aid eligibility.
  • Monitor the student financial assistance process to ensure financial aid packages are accurate.
  • Answer financial aid questions from students and parents, ensuring their understanding of funding options.
  • Review, analyze, and provide solutions to escalated student issues, communicating proposed solutions to the appropriate parties.
  • Audit the work of the financial aid team, research regulatory questions, and provide training to the department.
  • Manage the return to Title IV process, including reviewing accounts and gathering attendance information from other departments.
  • Train, develop, and manage team members, including conducting regular meetings and one-on-ones.
  • Lead employees in the Student Finance Department, carrying out leadership responsibilities in accordance with policies and laws.
  • Assist in hiring, coaching, and managing the performance of assigned employees.
  • Interact with outside agencies including the US Department of Education and other relevant organizations.
  • Manage processes associated with VA students, including compliance and certification.
  • Oversee required reporting and department quality control activities.
  • Participate in FSA and VA compliance audits.
  • Prepare and present information at meetings and workshops.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; coursework in math, business, finance, auditing or accounting preferred.
  • Experience awarding and packaging undergraduate students.
  • Experience with work-study, scholarship & campus-based funding programs.
  • Experience completing Return to Title IV calculations.
  • Ability to build productive relationships with departments involved in the student enrollment process.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented and problem solver; ability to research problems and provide resolution.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload.
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite.
