About the position

This position is located in the District Attorney's Office and is classified as an unclassified grant position. The recruitment will be used to fill full-time, temporary, and part-time positions. The purpose of this classification is to review, investigate, indict, and prosecute or resolve by plea felony criminal cases on behalf of the citizens of Fulton County. Positions in this classification generally perform entry-level, professional legal work under close supervision and may assist in the prosecution of cases of routine complexity.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the conduct of jury trials, preliminary and pretrial hearings, and related courtroom proceedings.
  • Investigates, evaluates, and prepares cases for trial.
  • Conducts case research and documentation.
  • Prepares cases and indictments for presentation to Grand Jury.
  • Communicates and serves as a liaison with victims, family, witnesses, and community partners.
  • Manages caseload and attends scheduled court appearances.
  • Coordinates with community partners and the public to support and promote criminal justice efforts.
  • Processes a variety of documentation associated with department/division operations.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctorate Degree required.
  • Previous experience in criminal justice, legal, or generally related field is preferred.
  • Must hold an active membership in good standing with any State Bar Association.
  • Must obtain active membership with the Georgia State Bar Association within one year of hire.

Nice-to-haves

  • Preferred three (3) years barred experience.
