About the position

The Assistant General Manager for Food and Beverage at Oak View Group is responsible for overseeing all food and beverage operations at a premier private high school for elite athletes. This role involves managing the main cafeteria, on-campus restaurant franchises, and concession areas during events. The position requires strong leadership skills, a commitment to quality service, and the ability to manage budgets and staff effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the General Manager in planning, directing and managing the day-to-day operations of the venue, including sales, finance, event services, operations, human resources, public safety, production, and facility maintenance.
  • Maintain active contact with the Client/Contract Administrator and monitor compliance with management contract provisions.
  • Promote the facility's use to maximize utilization.
  • Negotiate lease agreements and contracts with event organizers and managers.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with various stakeholders including tenants and community organizations.
  • Coordinate and implement corporate directives related to training, quality assurance, safety, and crisis management procedures.
  • Develop and implement facility goals in accordance with management contracts and corporate policy.
  • Prepare and maintain necessary reports for the Client/Contract Administrator and Corporate Office.
  • Plan, organize, coordinate and direct all activities and personnel for facility operations.
  • Assist in developing the annual operating calendar and revenue projections.
  • Assist in the development and administration of operating and capital budgets.
  • Recruit, select, lead, motivate and evaluate director level staff, providing training and implementing discipline as needed.
  • Work with departmental directors in day-to-day management and process evaluation.
  • Continuously improve operations and customer service quality.
  • Develop and implement venue programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Oversee contract service partners for Food & Beverage, Events, IT, Maintenance, and Franchises.
  • Prepare comprehensive management reports and manuals.
  • Lead various interdepartmental project groups and special projects.
  • Conduct organizational studies and recommend modifications to programs and policies as needed.
  • Represent the General Manager at meetings as required.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, vendors, and facility users.
  • Provide high-level customer service at all times.

Requirements

  • BA or BS with a business-related major; accounting minor or credits preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years management experience in the food-related or concessions industry.
  • Nationally recognized advanced food service sanitation training course certification.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and courteously with employees, management, and guests.
  • Ability to make sound business decisions quickly under pressure.
  • Solid working knowledge of computer applications including Microsoft Office and POS systems.
  • Ability to work well in a team-oriented, fast-paced, event-driven environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of concessions and premium services locations and procedures.
  • Valid Food Handlers certificate and Alcohol Service Permit if required by state or local government.
  • Familiarity with inventory cost control and menu planning.
  • Knowledge of sanitation requirements and food preparation guidelines.
