About the position

The Assistant General Manager is responsible for overseeing venue events and shows, ensuring smooth operations and excellent guest experiences. This role involves managing staff, coordinating technical aspects of events, and handling customer relations, all while supporting the General Manager and Venue Manager in various projects and duties.

Responsibilities

  • Manage venue events and shows, including ticketing and advance show needs.
  • Analyze event calendar and determine appropriate staffing levels; create and maintain schedules based on part-time employee availability.
  • Oversee venue maintenance and security, coordinating with maintenance staff for issue resolution.
  • Manage day-to-day office operations, including ordering supplies and monitoring customer service communications.
  • Oversee guest relations, ensuring customers have the best experience possible and responding to escalated complaints.
  • Make recommendations to the General Manager on budget allocation and financial statement reconciliation.
  • Oversee all operations and make decisions in the General Manager's absence.

Requirements

  • BA/BS Degree (4-year) in Business Management or a related field (Advanced Degree Preferred).
  • 6-8 years of related work experience.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Previous production experience, including scheduling, managing staff, and payroll.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire peers and subordinates.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Strong customer service skills, with the ability to multi-task and prioritize workload.
  • Strong written, verbal, and listening communication skills.
  • Ability to plan work activities and adapt to changing conditions.
  • Ability to effectively interact with all levels of management, promoters, suppliers, guests, and visitors.
  • Knowledge of sound and lighting preferred.
