About the position

The Assistant General Manager at SONIC Drive-In is responsible for supporting the General Manager in overseeing restaurant operations, training staff, and ensuring excellent customer service. This role involves managing team members, maintaining inventory, and adhering to operational standards to provide a clean and efficient dining experience for customers.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, train, monitor, and coach Crew/Team members, Carhops, and Skating Carhops.
  • Direct and assign drive-in restaurant employees to meet operational standards.
  • Adhere to and monitor employee compliance with the drive-in employee handbook, policies, and practices.
  • Perform restaurant opening and/or closing duties.
  • Prepare employee work schedules and adjust staffing levels as needed.
  • Monitor and maintain restaurant inventory levels and place orders for supplies.
  • Complete and maintain all employment-related records and payroll records.
  • Reinforce a customer service mentality among employees.
  • Resolve guest requests and complaints respectfully and promptly.
  • Interview and hire restaurant crew and management team members.
  • Prepare operational reports and develop action plans for financial or sales trends.
  • Develop and implement a marketing plan.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; advanced studies in business or restaurant management preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of restaurant management experience, preferably in QSR.
  • Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, and selection practices.
  • Knowledge of federal and state labor laws and local health regulations.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic accounting and computer skills.
  • Ability to follow directions and work autonomously after receiving instructions.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict-resolution skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience running shifts with or without supervision.
  • Willingness to abide by appearance, uniform, and hygiene standards.
