About the position

As an Assistant General Manager at Border Foods, your primary mission is to embody and reinforce the CORE values of the company, which include Accountability, Integrity, Family, Excellence, Teamwork, and Empowerment. You will play a crucial role in enhancing the restaurant experience for both employees and guests by fostering a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment where everyone can thrive. Your responsibilities will encompass the overall operation of the restaurant, ensuring that a strong team is built and maintained to consistently deliver great food and a friendly experience to customers. In this role, you will be tasked with creating opportunities that positively impact the lives of employees and guests alike. This includes guiding team members and Shift Leaders to complete their assigned duties effectively, ensuring the delivery of safe, quality food in a friendly manner. You will also be responsible for scheduling and deploying the team correctly, monitoring performance, and holding team members accountable for meeting standards and expectations. Maintaining the point of sale system and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards are also key components of your role. You will be expected to create unity within the team by building cross-functional relationships and responding to team member questions and issues in a timely manner. Your ability to navigate challenging situations and provide appropriate guidance will be essential. Additionally, you will represent Border Foods in handling customer complaints, demonstrating a sincere approach to finding effective solutions. Your strategic planning skills will be utilized to create both short-term and long-term strategies for restaurant success, ensuring profitability through effective management of P&L statements, labor control, inventory control, and waste management. The Assistant General Manager position is not just about managing operations; it is about empowering your team by providing learning and development opportunities, offering guidance, and demonstrating active coaching capabilities. You will be responsible for sourcing, hiring, and developing excellent team members, conducting new hire orientations, and developing training plans for new hires. Your leadership will help instill a recognition culture that fosters a positive work environment, ultimately contributing to the overall success of the restaurant.

Responsibilities

  • Reinforce the Border Foods CORE values including Accountability, Integrity, Family, Excellence, Teamwork, and Empowerment.
  • Oversee the operation of the entire restaurant and build a strong team to provide great food and a friendly experience.
  • Guide team members and Shift Leaders to complete assigned duties and serve safe, quality food in a friendly manner.
  • Schedule and deploy the team correctly, monitoring performance and holding team members accountable for standards and expectations.
  • Ensure a quality customer experience by driving fast and friendly service.
  • Maintain the point of sale system and report any system failures, verifying download accuracy.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards and adhere to all local, state, and federal laws and guidelines.
  • Create unity in the team by building cross-functional relationships and responding to team member questions and issues.
  • Motivate and support the team through active listening and effective communication.
  • Handle customer complaints and issues, demonstrating a sincere approach to finding solutions.
  • Develop short-term and long-term strategies for restaurant success and deliver profit by utilizing and interpreting P&L statements.
  • Source, hire, and develop excellent team members, conducting new hire orientations and training plans.
  • Minimize loss through strict observance of cash handling policies and proper training of team members.
  • Demonstrate efficient labor control, inventory control, and waste management.
  • Build the capabilities of the team by providing learning and development opportunities and consistent coaching.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three years restaurant or retail experience, or combined experience and education.
  • Experience with sales building, P&L statements, recruiting, and training.
  • Proven track record of successful hiring and retention.
  • Ability to work early morning, evenings, late nights, weekends, and some holidays as needed.
  • ServeSafe Certified.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Valid Driver's license and vehicle insurance.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
