About the position

The Assistant Asset Protection Manager plays a crucial role in maintaining the security and safety of the store environment. This position requires a proactive individual who takes ownership of their responsibilities and demonstrates strong time management skills. The Assistant Manager will work closely with the Asset Protection Leadership to ensure comprehensive building security and respond effectively to any security or emergency situations that may arise. This includes administering first aid, escorting hostile individuals from the premises, and assisting lost children, ensuring a safe shopping experience for all customers. In addition to responding to emergencies, the Assistant Asset Protection Manager will partner with the Asset Protection Manager to assist employees during safety incidents and participate in the store's Emergency Response team when necessary. A key aspect of this role involves observing customer behavior to identify potential indicators of theft, such as fraudulent transactions or shoplifting. The Assistant Manager will also be responsible for coaching Asset Protection employees to meet performance standards and expectations, ensuring a high level of professionalism and effectiveness within the team. The role requires a thorough review and approval of all reports related to Loss Prevention incidents, ensuring that all cases are documented accurately. The Assistant Asset Protection Manager must possess a proven track record in investigative procedures and security protocols, along with the ability to foster productive relationships with colleagues and leadership. Strong organizational skills, the ability to manage competing priorities, and proficiency in computer systems, including monitoring and surveillance technologies, are essential for success in this position. Familiarity with APIS and XBR systems is preferred, enhancing the candidate's ability to perform effectively in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Asset Protection Leadership to ensure complete building security and safety.
  • Respond to and report all store security and emergency situations, including administering first aid and escorting hostile individuals from the store.
  • Partner with the Asset Protection Manager to assist employees with safety incidents and participate in the store Emergency Response team when necessary.
  • Observe customer behavior for indicators of both internal and external theft, such as fraudulent check or credit card activity and shoplifting.
  • Assist in coaching Asset Protection employees to ensure they meet performance standards and expectations.
  • Review and approve all reports to ensure that Loss Prevention incidents and cases are reported properly and document the review of detention room videotapes.

  • Computer proficiency, including use of monitoring and surveillance technologies.
  • Comprehensive understanding of both APIS and XBR (preferred).
