Job Overview: The Assistant Manager, Asset Protection, supports the Asset Protection Manager, My Macy's initiatives, Omnichannel strategies, and the We Care Service Model through actively managing a team of direct reports. They identify shortage results and causes, developing programs and procedures to reduce shortage. Other duties are performed as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, interview, hire, train, and develop a team of Asset Protection direct reports, providing necessary feedback and coaching.
• Conduct quarterly and annual performance check-ins, making talent development and promotion decisions.
• Address colleague concerns; collaborate with HR on performance and conduct issues.
• Assist the Asset Protection Manager in supervising indirect reports.
• Protect and monitor company assets, alarms, property, colleagues, and visitors by enforcing company and Asset Protection policies.
• Drive all aspects of The Shortage Program and cultivate a Shortage culture.
• Identify shortage results and causes, collaborating with AP Manager/Store Manager to create effective preventive action plans supporting profit objectives.
• Initiate new programs and procedures to reduce shortage through training and development of the Asset Protection team.
• Manage and monitor internal and external case productivity and recoveries; participate in internal and external theft investigations.
• Assist with surveillance and apprehensions as needed.
• Promote safety awareness and maintain a safe shopping and work environment for customers and colleagues.
• Develop and foster partnerships with local law enforcement.
• Ensure regular, dependable attendance and punctuality.
• Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities.

Requirements

• Candidates with a bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in a related field are encouraged to apply.
• 1-3 years of Asset protection supervisory experience.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills; ability to draft reports and other communications; present to management and internal and external business partners.
• Interpret technical documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule with retail hours, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
