About the position

East Cambridge Savings Bank's Human Resources Division is actively recruiting for an Assistant Manager-Compensation & Benefits. This position operates under the general direction of the Vice President - Sr. Human Resources Manager and plays a crucial role in assisting with the coordination and implementation of compensation and benefits programs in accordance with established Bank policies, procedures, and strategic goals. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Human Resources, particularly in compensation, payroll processing, and benefits administration, with a focus on ensuring compliance with wage and hour regulations and maintaining accurate payroll records. The Assistant Manager will be responsible for preparing and processing payroll, ensuring that all payroll entries are accurate and compliant with state and federal laws. This includes maintaining the payroll system, assisting with upgrades, and troubleshooting any discrepancies that may arise. The role also involves administering employee benefit programs, determining eligibility, managing enrollments, and communicating benefit plans to employees. The Assistant Manager will coordinate the benefits' open enrollment process and support wellness initiatives within the Bank. In addition to payroll and benefits administration, the Assistant Manager will assist in managing the Bank's compensation programs, including maintaining salary structures and performance appraisal programs. The position requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to draft correspondence and reports. The Assistant Manager will also be involved in compliance-related tasks, such as preparing and filing 5500 tax reports and maintaining accurate FMLA and medical files. Overall, this role is integral to the effective management of the Bank's human resources functions, ensuring that all processes are executed efficiently and in compliance with relevant regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and process payroll, ensuring compliance with wage and hour regulations.
  • Maintain payroll system and assist with upgrades and administration as needed.
  • Review payroll entries for accuracy and troubleshoot discrepancies.
  • Administer employee benefit programs and manage benefit enrollments.
  • Coordinate the benefits' open enrollment process and communicate plans to employees.
  • Assist with the year-end payroll process and ensure payroll tax compliance.
  • Maintain FMLA and medical files, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Support Bank-wide wellness initiatives and administer employee benefit programs as needed.
  • Assist in managing the Bank's compensation programs, including salary structures and performance appraisals.
  • Create monthly variance reports and submit to accounting in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent through specialized coursework and training.
  • At least three years of experience in Human Resources, including compensation, payroll processing, and benefits administration.
  • Experience with ADP preferred; experience with other payroll/HRIS software helpful.
  • At least one year of supervisory experience.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to draft correspondence and reports.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously while adhering to deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
