The Assistant Nurse Manager in the Psychiatric Emergency Department at Backus Hospital plays a crucial role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality healthcare services. This position is recognized as a clinical expert within the service line and serves as a leadership role model for Registered Nurses and all staff under their supervision. The Assistant Nurse Manager works closely with both the emergency department and inpatient behavioral health staff to direct operations in a manner that ensures the safe and efficient movement of patients through the department. This includes assigning patient care activities, ensuring that staff are qualified to care for assigned patients, supporting team members, and maintaining a focus on quality and service excellence for patients. The role also involves facilitating challenging situations and appropriately assigning workloads to optimize staff performance. In addition to overseeing daily operations, the Assistant Nurse Manager is responsible for monitoring and maintaining staff performance.
