About the position

The Assistant Nursing Director (ADON) plays a crucial role in overseeing the nursing staff and ensuring the delivery of high-quality care to residents. This position requires a valid Registered Nursing (RN) license for the State of Florida and at least six months of hospital or rehabilitation nursing experience. The ADON must possess strong communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and staff, and must be able to see, hear, speak, read, and write in English. The role involves significant physical demands, including the ability to stretch, push, pull, kneel, reach, twist, walk, and stand for up to sixteen hours, up to three times per week, and the capacity to lift unassisted at least fifty pounds. In this position, the ADON will supervise and monitor nursing staff in training activities as specified in the residents' Active Treatment Plans and Individual Support Plans (ISP). The ADON will utilize clinical nursing competencies to assess and provide care, treatment, and services to residents, participate in the development of resident admission and discharge planning, and coordinate medical services while maintaining contact with the Director of Nursing and the facility's physician. The ADON is also responsible for conducting quarterly quality assurance reviews of medical records, implementing an internal audit system to ensure compliance with federal, state, and company standards, and correcting any deficiencies noted by quality assurance or audits. The ADON will schedule nursing staff, monitor labor hours to maintain the nursing budget, and manage medical supplies and inventory. Additionally, the ADON will assist in developing policies and protocols, train nursing staff on policy changes, and maintain 24-hour on-call availability. The role requires a commitment to ensuring residents' rights and promoting optimal quality of life standards, as well as responding to incidents of abuse in accordance with facility procedures. The ADON will also coordinate healthcare-related training for staff and ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures, demonstrating a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment for all.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and monitor nursing staff in training activities as specified in the resident's Active Treatment Plan and ISP programs.

  • Coordinate medical services for residents and maintain contact with the Director of Nursing and the facilities' physician.

  • Monitor medical supplies, inventory, and order supplies as necessary.
  • Assist in the development of policies and protocols to address new/reoccurring issues.
  • Train nursing staff on all policy changes and maintain 24-hour on-call availability.
  • Ensure residents' rights and promote optimal quality of life standards.

Requirements

  • Registered Nursing license for the State of Florida.
  • At least two years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience working with people who are developmentally or intellectually disabled is preferred.
