About the position

The Assistant Principal at Penn's Grove Middle School is responsible for supporting the mission of the Oxford Area School District by ensuring a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment for all students. This role encompasses both administrative and instructional leadership responsibilities aimed at enhancing student achievement, supporting faculty, and fostering a positive school culture. The Assistant Principal collaborates with the Principal and district staff to achieve school and district goals.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Principal in the implementation of curriculum and instructional programs that align with district standards and goals.
  • Support the professional development of teachers through observations, feedback, and instructional coaching.
  • Analyze student performance data to guide instructional decisions and identify areas for improvement.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of school improvement plans and initiatives aimed at raising student achievement.
  • Develop and enforce school policies regarding student conduct to maintain a safe, orderly, and respectful learning environment.
  • Implement positive behavior programs and oversee disciplinary procedures, ensuring fair and consistent practices.
  • Conduct student conferences and communicate with parents or guardians regarding behavioral and academic concerns.
  • Work with counselors, social workers, and teachers to support students' social, emotional, and academic development.
  • Assist in recruiting, hiring, and onboarding qualified instructional staff and support personnel.
  • Conduct staff observations and evaluations, providing constructive feedback to enhance teaching effectiveness.
  • Lead or support professional development activities, including planning workshops, training, and coaching.
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and positive school culture through effective team-building activities and communication.
  • Oversee daily school operations, including scheduling, student transportation, and safety procedures.
  • Develop and manage school-wide systems, such as attendance monitoring, substitute scheduling, and classroom assignments.
  • Support the Principal in the management of school budgets, resource allocation, and purchasing decisions.
  • Ensure compliance with district, state, and federal policies, particularly those related to student services and special education.
  • Serve as a liaison between Penn's Grove Middle School and the larger Oxford Area School District community.
  • Facilitate parent engagement activities, school events, and community partnerships.
  • Communicate school achievements, updates, and concerns to parents and community members through various channels.
  • Collaborate with parents, teachers, and local organizations to support student learning and well-being.

Requirements

  • Pennsylvania Principal Certification required.
  • Strong instructional knowledge, particularly with middle school curriculum and best practices.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for building relationships with students, staff, and the community.
  • Excellent organizational, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering an inclusive and positive school culture.
