About the position

The Assistant Principal at Yucca Heights Elementary School plays a crucial role in administering educational programs and supervising both students and staff. This position supports the principal in the overall administration of instructional programs and campus operations, ensuring a conducive learning environment and promoting positive relationships within the school community.

Responsibilities

  • Administers school educational programs in elementary school.
  • Supervises students and staff, either personally or through subordinate supervisors.
  • Assists the school principal in overall administration of instructional programs and campus operations.
  • Coordinates assigned student activities and services.
  • Complies with the Code of Ethics of the Education Profession and enforces school policies and regulations.
  • Assists in establishing educational goals consistent with district policy.
  • Promotes a positive school atmosphere conducive to learning.
  • Serves as the principal in the absence of the regular principal.
  • Supervises the school's instructional programs and staff evaluations.
  • Coordinates and monitors inventory of instructional resources and materials.
  • Conducts classroom observations and evaluates teachers.
  • Arranges for and oversees substitute teachers.
  • Assists in determining staffing needs and school improvement programs.
  • Maintains discipline of the student body and coordinates meetings concerning discipline.
  • Counsels and disciplines students regarding attendance and behavior problems.
  • Serves as Site Test Coordinator for district and state assessments.
  • Monitors student academic achievement and assists in extracurricular activities.
  • Maintains student records and assists in budget management.
  • Prepares school reports and informs the principal of emergencies.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Educational Administration.
  • Three years of teaching experience.
  • New Mexico Level 3B Administrative License.
  • New Mexico Teacher License.
  • Demonstrated ability as a classroom teacher.
  • Knowledge of instructional administration and school operations.
  • Strong organizational, communication, computer, and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficient in Google Suites and Microsoft Office Suites.
  • Ability to use multiple virtual instructional platforms and student data platforms.
