About the position

Alvarez & Marsal ("A&M") is currently seeking an Associate to join our Compensation & Benefits Tax consulting practice. In this role, Associates will work collaboratively with a team of professionals to provide expert advice to boards of directors and C-suite executives across various companies regarding compensation matters. As an Associate, you will be responsible for benchmarking compensation and developing reports that support compensation recommendations for C-suite executives and Board of Directors. You will design long-term incentive awards while considering tax, accounting, and regulatory implications. Additionally, you will work on mergers and acquisitions, performing complex calculations for target companies and their executives. Developing retention and incentive arrangements for companies undergoing restructuring will also be part of your responsibilities. You will research emerging issues, such as tax reform legislation and new SEC requirements, to keep our clients informed about the evolving regulatory landscape. Furthermore, you will prepare tax calculations and various analyses/models to assist clients in making informed compensation decisions and ensuring compliance with applicable rules and regulations. Drafting technical memorandums and letters related to compensation and benefits issues, as well as assisting with marketing initiatives by writing articles, preparing pitch decks, and developing presentations, will also be key components of your role. You will collaborate with colleagues and participate in client meetings, contributing to the overall success of the team.

Responsibilities

  • Develop retention and incentive arrangements for companies undergoing a restructuring.

  • Prepare tax calculations and various analyses/models to help clients make informed compensation decisions and comply with applicable rules and regulations.

  • Assist with marketing initiatives by writing articles, preparing pitch decks, researching targets, and developing presentations.
  • Team with other colleagues and participate in client meetings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Advanced degree preferred: Masters in Accounting/Finance/Tax, JD/LL.M. (tax) or CPA (or in the process of pursuing) is a plus.
  • Organizational Behavior, Human Resource Management, or Business Management also considered.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to articulate complex information.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • High proficiency in spreadsheets.
  • Ability to simultaneously work on several projects and effectively manage deadlines.
  • High motivation to learn and grow.
