About the position

Teachable is seeking an Associate Counsel to join its International Legal team, primarily focusing on supporting the U.S. operations with legal needs related to commercial contracts and corporate governance. This role involves collaboration with legal professionals across various regions, ensuring compliance and providing legal advisory on multiple matters including consumer protection and litigation. The position is hybrid, requiring 2-3 days in the NYC office, and offers a dynamic work environment within a rapidly growing company.

Responsibilities

  • Draft and review commercial agreements, including partnership and vendor agreements.
  • Provide legal advisory for commercial, civil, employment, real estate, litigation, tax, and local regulatory compliance matters.
  • Handle governmental procedures from a legal perspective, including KYC procedures and payments.
  • Support internal clients and corporate committees to ensure proper functioning of U.S. Business Units.
  • Ensure successful completion of all internal and external registration and record-keeping.
  • Instruct external counsel as required and ensure advice is captured and acted upon.
  • Demonstrate responsiveness in delivering legal services to support business operations and growth.
  • Occasionally travel within LATAM.

Requirements

  • 2 years of experience in the legal corporate area or law firm.
  • Excellent knowledge of corporate governance with a flexible and practical approach to work.
  • Ability to draft, review, analyze, and sign contracts and complex documents that create obligatory links between the company and third parties.

Nice-to-haves

  • Intermediate to advanced Spanish and/or Portuguese proficiency.
  • Knowledge of taxation.
  • Experience working in or with listed companies in the technology area.
