About the position

The Associate Dean of Research at the College of Engineering, Utah State University, is a full-time leadership role focused on managing and promoting funded research initiatives. The position aims to stimulate new and ongoing research activities within the college, requiring strong leadership and communication skills to support faculty in achieving their research goals.

Responsibilities

• Mentoring faculty on research opportunities.
• Providing professional development opportunities to support faculty research efforts.
• Engaging with college research centers.
• Supervising the proposal development team.
• Serving as the primary liaison between the college and the Vice President for Research.
• Interfacing with the Sponsored Programs Office (SPO).
• Seeking and evaluating strategic research partnerships with other colleges within USU and externally.
• Promoting and supporting the development of research centers.
• Supervising the recognition of significant research accomplishments in the college including the events of Research Week.
• Improving the processes and support for researchers in the college.
• Initiating and nurturing research collaborations with colleges and centers throughout USU.

Requirements

• PhD in engineering.
• Demonstrated expertise appropriate for appointment at the Associate or Full Professor level.

• Success as a PI or leader of an independent research program.
