About the position

The Associate Director, Agile Coach & Scrum Master at Bristol-Myers Squibb is responsible for leading Agile teams in adopting Agile methodologies and practices. This role involves coaching teams to enhance their performance, facilitating Agile ceremonies, and collaborating with project managers to create and adapt Agile milestone plans. The position requires a strong focus on continuous improvement, effective communication, and the ability to influence decision-making within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Train, guide, and support Agile Teams to embed Agile mindsets and practices.
  • Ensure teams understand Agile and Scrum theory, practice, and guidelines.
  • Coach teams in self-organization and high-performing practices.
  • Craft and implement team-specific Agile growth strategies.
  • Partner with initiative leads and project managers to create Agile milestone plans and backlogs.
  • Coach on refinement of deliverables and apply key Agile artifacts.
  • Lead sprint ceremonies to achieve targeted results.
  • Schedule and facilitate events, meetings, and decision-making processes.
  • Co-manage timelines and resolve issues hindering team work.
  • Facilitate internal communication and collaboration among teams and stakeholders.
  • Resolve team impediments with other Scrum Masters to enhance Scrum application.
  • Measure and monitor progress and performance of Agile teams.
  • Help teams identify and implement changes for continuous improvement.
  • Capture lessons learned and key metrics for Agile transformation.
  • Participate in Agile Community of Practice forums to support scaling Agile mindsets and practices.
  • Build and refine multimedia tools for communications and learning.
  • Develop and deploy the Agile eLearning Library.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, data science, computer science, or information systems; Master's or MBA preferred.
  • 8+ years of business work experience.
  • 5+ years of experience leading in an Agile work environment, including management consulting experience with Agile training.
  • Knowledge of Agile principles (Scrum and/or Kanban).
  • Experience in implementing Agile at Scale.
  • Agile certifications are a plus.
  • Lean and Six Sigma certifications are a plus.
  • Proven experience in training and education.
  • Experience working as part of a larger PMO to deliver complex solutions using Agile processes.
  • Experience resolving conflicts and coaching teams to improve alignment and functionality.
  • Experience managing a team of teams and negotiating compromises.
  • Familiarity with Atlassian Jira.
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong facilitation skills.
