About the position

The Associate Director for Cloud Development Engineering will play a crucial leadership role within the Cloud Data Engineering team, focusing on Snowflake and Business Intelligence (BI) technologies. This position is designed for an individual who is ready to take on the responsibility of managing a team of engineers and developers tasked with designing, implementing, and maintaining automated, scalable, and efficient data solutions that meet the evolving business requirements of DTCC. As part of this role, you will oversee the management and allocation of Snowflake and BI engineering resources across various projects and initiatives, ensuring that the team is well-equipped to handle the demands of the business. In this pivotal role, you will develop and implement strategies for capacity planning and demand forecasting to optimize resource utilization. A deep understanding of Snowflake service offerings, including patching, upgrades, and regular maintenance, will be essential. You will collaborate with multi-functional teams to align resource management with overall business goals, leading quarterly strategic meetings to review product roadmaps and discuss resource-related strategic topics. Promoting a culture of continuous learning and development within the team will be a key focus, as you strive to keep the team ahead of industry trends. Your responsibilities will also include managing new and existing work, ensuring that tasks are evenly distributed across the team to best serve a wide array of internal customers. You will contribute to and support the enterprise Cloud strategy, standards, and best practices associated with all aspects of Cloud offerings, while also driving the adoption of the DevOps methodology and Agile project management. Your expert-level design and engineering support will be crucial for the successful delivery of IT's cloud project portfolio, and you will participate in architectural reviews to ensure that systems are built to meet business requirements. Additionally, you will drive the adoption of Snowflake's latest features to enhance data analytics capabilities and develop internal systems and processes that align with the latest Cloud strategies and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the management and allocation of Snowflake and BI engineering resources across various projects and initiatives.
  • Develop and implement strategies for capacity planning and demand forecasting to optimize resource utilization.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of Snowflake service offerings, including patching, upgrades, and regular maintenance.
  • Collaborate with multi-functional teams to align resource management with overall business goals.
  • Lead quarterly strategic meetings to review product roadmaps and discuss resource-related strategic topics.

  • Manage new and existing work and evenly distribute work across the team to best serve a wide array of internal customers.
  • Contribute to and support the enterprise Cloud strategy, standards and best practices associated with all aspects Cloud offerings.
  • Contribute to and support the corporate adoption of the DevOps methodology and Agile project management.
  • Provide expert level design and engineering support towards the successful delivery of IT's cloud project portfolio.
  • Participate in architectural reviews to ensure systems are built to meet business requirements.
  • Drive the adoption of Snowflake's latest features, such as Snowpark Model Registry and Universal Search, to enhance data analytics capabilities.
  • Develop and implement internal systems, processes, and standard methodologies within current tooling systems that align to the latest Cloud strategies and standards.
  • Participate in deep architectural discussions to ensure solutions are designed for successful deployment, security, cost effectiveness and high availability in the cloud.
  • Contribute towards continual service improvement activities related to the delivery of cloud services.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years of related experience.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Experience in IT related to cloud platforms, compute, storage, and network architecture and engineering.
  • Experience with Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery design, planning and implementation in cloud.
  • 4+ years practical experience working with cloud automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Python, and Git is a plus.
  • Demonstrates strong leadership skills as a resource manager for a highly technical team.
  • Maintains current knowledge of marketplace changes, technology changes, and client businesses pertinent to public cloud, compute, storage and network updates.
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced, high demand environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates strong customer service awareness and orientation and able to partner with Application Development teams and Shared Service owners throughout the build process and ongoing lifecycle management.
  • Exemplifies leadership characteristics in support of DTCC corporate objectives.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with various levels of management.
