About the position

The Associate Director of Market Research & Analytics for Specialty Business Development at AbbVie is responsible for designing, implementing, managing, and analyzing marketing research and analytics initiatives. This role serves as a strategic partner to the Specialty Business Development team, providing insights that inform decisions regarding potential new assets. The position requires a blend of qualitative and quantitative research skills, strong analytical capabilities, and the ability to communicate complex findings effectively to various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Act as intelligence partner for Specialty Business Development team, providing strategic insights and forming trusted relationships.
  • Lead custom research projects that deliver compelling and actionable learnings.
  • Synthesize learning across research, analytics, and market intelligence to develop actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Maintain knowledge of market trends and effectively communicate this to internal stakeholders.
  • Design and execute measurement plans to ensure understanding of operational and performance indicators.
  • Coordinate and manage program performance assessments and project readouts.
  • Manage data strategy efforts to ensure accurate and reliable data assets are incorporated into analytics capabilities.
  • Leverage innovative analytic models to address critical issues and meet business criteria.
  • Communicate results of complex analytic models effectively.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to leverage intelligence appropriately.
  • Provide an unbiased point of view on the future potential of assets, supported by facts and evidence.
  • Present learnings confidently across all levels of the organization.
  • Manage and develop direct reports, fostering their career growth and team efficiency.
  • Manage research and analytics programs within budget and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with financial and ethical guidelines in all research and analytics activities.

Requirements

  • BA or BS degree required; advanced degree (MA, MS, MBA, PhD) preferred.
  • ~10 years relevant marketing research and/or analytics experience required.
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical industry and familiarity with pharmaceutical data preferred.
  • Strong analytical reasoning abilities and intellectual curiosity.
  • Superior organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Creativity in problem-solving and ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Proven experience as an integral member of a high-performing work team.
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with physician-level prescribing and institutional sales data.
  • Familiarity with payer-prescriber-level data and formulary data.
