About the position

The Associate Director, Medical Communications & Information at AstraZeneca is responsible for executing US and Global brand deliverables in the medical communications field. This role involves responding to medical inquiries, reviewing promotional materials, and developing scientific content for various stakeholders. The position is part of the Content Excellence Team and requires collaboration with Medical Affairs and other functions to ensure quality and compliance in medical content delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Execute US & Global MC&I brand/therapeutic area deliverables.
  • Respond to medical inquiries from healthcare professionals.
  • Review and provide scientific consultation on promotional materials.
  • Develop scientific content for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Supervise and support Medical Information Managers within the team.
  • Deliver on an existing pipeline of work while improving operational efficiency.
  • Stay updated on changes in the therapeutic area landscape, including regulatory and compliance.
  • Ensure alignment of medical content with MC&I priorities and overall medical strategy.
  • Lead US launch and congress deliverables with oversight of Directors.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders, including Medical Affairs and partner functions.
  • Provide staffing support for the MC&I booth at scientific meetings.
  • Own deliverables within focus area, ensuring quality of content delivered through MIMs.
  • Assist MC&I Directors in leading and planning tactical execution of content strategy plan.
  • Accountable for development and maintenance of content plans integrated into iMAP.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in Pharmacy (PharmD preferred), Pharmacology, Science, or equivalent clinical experience.
  • 2-4 years of experience in pharmaceutical industry-based Drug/Medical Information/Scientific Communications or equivalent industry experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in drug information communication and management.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to apply local regulatory (e.g. FDA), legal, and compliance requirements to Medical Affairs activities and drug information delivery.
  • Understanding of the information needs for various customer segments.
  • Strong collaboration and leadership skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Clinical Pharmacy experience with patient care exposure.

  • Managed Markets or HEOR experience.
  • Pharmacy Licensure preferred.
