About the position

Under the general direction of the Director of Systems, Servers and Websites, the Associate Drupal Programmer will work closely with the Web Development Center to administer the hosted and on-premises web environments and Content Management Systems (CMS) to meet the various needs of California State University, Long Beach (CSULB). This position plays a key role in assisting with the development, design, and maintenance of responsive, secure, accessible, and user-friendly web environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for the administration of the campus Drupal environment, maintaining features, and collaborating with team members to provide continuous integration and development of the Content Management Framework. The role involves the development of custom Drupal modules, supporting CSULB's custom theme, and managing database environments. The Associate Drupal Programmer will also support the on-premises university template and design, develop, and maintain existing websites using responsive and accessibility best practices. Effective communication with both technical and non-technical individuals in a culturally diverse campus environment is essential. Participation in departmental and team meetings is also expected, contributing to a collaborative work atmosphere.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with administration of the campus Drupal environment.
  • Maintain features and work with team members to provide continuous integration and development of the Content Management Framework.
  • Develop custom Drupal modules and support CSULB custom theme and database environments.
  • Support the on-premises university template.
  • Design, develop, and maintain existing websites using responsive and accessibility best practices.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with technical and non-technical individuals in a culturally diverse campus environment.
  • Attend and participate in departmental and team meetings.

Requirements

  • Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business, or related technical field.
  • Two years of related experience required.
  • Strong knowledge of HTML5, CSS, and ARIA.
  • Experience using Drupal related command-line tools, i.e. Drush, desired.
  • Experience administering a Drupal environment in a cloud and/or on-premise environment desired.
  • Experience with PHP programming language preferred.
  • Experience with GitHub desired.
  • Knowledge of HTTP responses, REST APIs, and JSON formatting.
  • Knowledge of network architecture, configuration, and interfaces.
  • Familiarity with different networking protocols such as TCP/IP and NetBlOS for maintaining and troubleshooting.
  • Understanding of authentication services such as Active Directory and LDAP.
  • Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community.
  • Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with MySQL, SQL, or Oracle for creating and normalizing secure databases.
  • Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each student.
