About the position

The Associate Electrical Engineer position at MTU Onsite Energy is a pivotal role responsible for developing custom electrical and control solutions. This position requires collaboration with various departments, including Sales, Purchasing, and Manufacturing, to transition incoming concepts into production-ready solutions. The engineer will also support Sustaining Engineering efforts for existing product models, ensuring that the products meet customer specifications and quality standards. In this role, the engineer will develop electrical components and systems for both new and existing products. This includes a wide range of tasks such as designing generator set control systems, wiring harnesses, electrical diagrams, electronic engine systems, automatic voltage regulators, transformers, heaters, motor controls, protective devices, and switchgear. The engineer will work closely with Applications and Mechanical Engineering teams, as well as Sales, to fully understand customer requirements and create schematics that document the As-Built wiring for custom electrical designs. The position demands adherence to standard engineering principles and practices, as well as compliance with the company's quality system and safety procedures. The engineer will be expected to promote a culture of compliance and uphold the values outlined in the Rolls Royce Code of Conduct. Additionally, the role may involve special projects as required, providing opportunities for professional growth and development.

Responsibilities

  • Develop electrical components and systems for new or existing products.
  • Create schematics to document As-Built wiring for custom electrical designs.
  • Select correct design concepts and fundamental technology for new products or improvements.
  • Complete work according to standard engineering principles and practices.
  • Follow ERP procedures per the company's quality system.
  • Promote a compliance culture in the area of responsibility.
  • Perform special projects as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or 4 years of electrical engineering experience.
  • Strong analytical ability for complex problems.
  • Ability to read and interpret line diagrams, ladder diagrams, and point-to-point diagrams.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently for extended periods.
  • Good knowledge of Diesel and Gas engines.
  • Good organizational skills to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with others and understand customer specifications.
  • Good presentation skills.
  • Computer skills in AutoCAD LT, AutoCAD Electrical, Programming, and MS Office.

  • Service or test experience.
