About the position

Parsons is seeking a highly skilled Senior Instrumentation and Controls Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing instrumentation and controls for both new and existing facilities across a variety of client projects. These projects can range from simple site utility improvements to complex brownfield modernizations of specialized inspection facilities, and even greenfield chemical production facilities. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with other engineers and designers/drafters, either supporting or being supported by them on one or more projects, ensuring that all engineering tasks are performed efficiently and accurately. As a Senior Engineer, you will be tasked with performing complex engineering assignments that are critical to the success of our projects. This includes preparing and checking specifications for control systems and instrumentation, creating location plans, equipment/instrument schedules, datasheets, and other essential documents required for the design, procurement, installation, configuration, and operation of instrumentation and control (I&C) equipment and devices. You will also support the commissioning and installation of field equipment, extract engineering information from CAD drawings, and prepare engineering computations, material quantity takeoffs, estimates, surveys, and designs. Your role will involve coordinating activities and deliverables with group leads and other engineers within the I&C discipline, as well as programming and configuring control system equipment. In addition to technical responsibilities, you will provide guidance to CAD designers/drafters, designers, and junior engineers working on the same project. Responsibilities

  • Performing complex engineering tasks efficiently and accurately.
  • Preparing and checking specifications for control systems and instrumentation.
  • Creating location plans, equipment/instrument schedules, datasheets, and other necessary documents.
  • Supporting the commissioning and installation of field equipment.
  • Extracting engineering information from CAD drawings.
  • Preparing engineering computations, material quantity takeoffs, estimates, surveys, and designs.
  • Coordinating activities and deliverables with group leads and other engineers in the I&C discipline.
  • Programming and configuring control system equipment.
  • Preparing detailed requisitions for equipment and materials, including reviewing supplier drawing submittals and performing technical bid analyses.
  • Providing technical guidance to CAD designers/drafters, designers, and lower-level engineers working on the same project.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Controls Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Typically 1+ years of related work experience.
  • Knowledge of various instrument types, including operating principles and materials of construction.
  • Familiarity with hardware for modern control systems and backend control system components.
  • Knowledge of relevant standards such as ISA, NFPA/NEC, UFC/UFGS.
  • Experience in system design, procurement, commissioning, troubleshooting, and operations/maintenance.
  • Proficiency in utilizing CAD and other PC software packages associated with engineering, including Autodesk and Hexagon.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office/365 suite.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of programming and configuration of control systems/automation is desirable.
  • Professional Engineer registration is desirable.
