About the position

The Associate Instrumentation & Controls Engineer position at Sargent & Lundy is an associate-level design engineering role focused on nuclear power generation. This role involves working on various projects related to instrumentation and controls engineering, providing opportunities for career advancement while ensuring client requirements are met. The position requires collaboration with discipline engineers, designers, and clients, and is based on a hybrid work schedule requiring in-office work three days a week.

Responsibilities

  • Interface with discipline engineers and designers on the Project Team and with the client to ensure all client requirements are satisfied.
  • Work on major process controls engineering projects in areas such as Digital Systems, PLC, DCS, Touchscreen displays, network switches, and control systems.
  • Prepare Functional Requirement and Procurement Specifications for instrumentation and control systems for nuclear power plants.
  • Conduct process instrumentation replacement evaluation reports.
  • Prepare documentation for design input for drawing production including cable block diagrams and schematics.
  • Interface with vendors and prepare equipment purchase specifications.
  • Prepare reports and studies that present technical information clearly and concisely to meet client requirements.
  • Attend client meetings and perform site walkdowns to ensure client satisfaction with work products.
  • Provide guidance as a mentor in the development of less experienced nuclear instrumentation and controls design engineers.

Requirements

  • BS degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in design engineering for process control systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in reviewing design drawings created by others.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in design engineering for nuclear power plant control systems.
  • PE license.
