Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is currently seeking Associate or Experienced Aircraft Assembly Structures Mechanics (Level B or C) to assist with multiple areas of the production system while working on different airplane programs throughout your career in North Charleston, South Carolina on a Variable Shift! In this role, you will work within a manufacturing assembly environment by drawing on knowledge acquired from training and certification classes to complete your daily assigned work. By interpreting drawings and reading/comprehending work instructions, you will be responsible for identifying your work (task) location on the airplane/part/tooling and identifying all required hand tools, parts, and equipment to accomplish defect-free work. You must have the ability to complete the New Hire Training Cycle Flow to obtain and maintain all required certifications. You will use a computer in a production environment, set up and validate jigs and other tooling setups, and perform close tolerance drilling and installations in critical aircraft structural areas. The role requires the use of calibrated precision measuring tools and experience with various fastener removal tools and techniques. You will also need experience working with CFRP, aluminum, and titanium structural materials, as well as drilling, sanding, and trimming. In addition, you will be expected to look up, read, and comprehend technical work instructions, drawings, and/or specifications. Familiarity with software applications such as Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Internet Explorer, Microsoft Windows, and SAP is essential. You will need to wear appropriate protective clothing/equipment determined by the task you are performing and operate mechanical lifts of various types (e.g., ladders, Scissor Lift, and JLG Bucket lifts). Inspecting your work quality and checking for Foreign Object Debris (FOD) is also a critical part of the job. This position is expected to be 100% onsite, and the selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options. This position must meet export control compliance requirements, which necessitates that a "U.S. Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. -120.15 is required. A "U.S. Person" includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Ability to work variable shift (1st, 2nd or 3rd).
  • 1 year of experience in a technical or mechanical field performing work with basic hand tools.
  • 1+ years of experience using software applications for internet navigation, email, Microsoft Suite, and/or other specialized computer applications.
  • 1 year of composite experience.
  • 1+ years of experience with aircraft structural parts fabrication, assembly processes, and procedures.
  • 1+ years of experience utilizing and following detailed work instructions, reading, and interpreting blueprints, drawings, or specifications, in English.

Nice-to-haves

  • 3 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces.
  • Must be able to work with hazardous chemicals.
  • 3+ years' experience with the Structural repair operations process involving the 787 and/or other legacy Boeing Models 727, 737, 747, 757, 767, 777 airplane programs.
  • 3+ years' experience in aerospace, manufacturing, and/or fabrication.
  • Completion of degree or certification from a trade school and/or A&P license.
