Associate, Strategic Finance - GTM

About the position

Toast is driven by building the all-in-one restaurant platform that helps restaurants operate their business, increase sales, engage guests, and keep employees happy. The Finance, Strategy & Analytics team is responsible for providing data-driven insights to inform strategic, financial, and operational decision-making across the company. We are seeking a Finance, Strategy & Analytics Associate to bring their analytical mindset to the Go-To-Market (GTM) function through surfacing insights that will drive leadership decision-making. This role offers exposure to senior leadership and the chance to enhance shareholder value in a fast-growing environment. Ideal candidates have a history of delivering results, taking ownership, and strong business judgment, with skills in problem-solving, recommendation delivery and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Provide analytical support to the broader GTM Finance, Strategy & Analytics organization through leveraging Toast’s extensive trove of data
• Analyze variances between actuals, forecast, and plan - use insights to iterate on forecasts and build/discuss potential action plans with cross-functional customers
• Continuously look at opportunities to optimize processes and models used, to provide more timely and relevant insights across Toast
• Synthesize detailed insights into digestible and actionable presentations for GTM leadership to help guide business decision-making
• Transform complex data sets into actionable insights using tools such as Hex, Excel, Python, R, Snowflake/SQL, etc.
• Create queries, views, reports, and easy-to-consume dashboards/visualizations that drive action from business leaders

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree
• 2+ years of strategic finance, investment banking, business intelligence and/or data analytics experience
• Effective project management skills; highly organized, independent, and self-motivated
• Positive attitude, high attention to detail, collaborative and comfort in working in a matrix organization
• A data-driven mindset with strong analytical and modeling skills. You are excited to dig through data to drive evidence-based discussions and decision-making.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills amongst a range of audiences
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth and evolving environment

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in analysis of unit economics to drive data-informed strategic decision-making and operational efficiency across key business functions
• Proficient in SQL or experience with BI tools
• Background building interactive dashboards in a tool such as Hex, Looker, Tableau, Domo, SiSense, etc.
